How long does it take for an Australian ETA to be approved?
Your Visitor ETA Visa is a short-term visa which will only allow you to stay in Australia for a maximum duration of three months, but it is valid for one year from your date of application, or until your passport expiry date - whichever is sooner.
Do I need an ETA to travel to Australia?
Yes, unless your children hold Australian passports, they will require ETAs to visit Australia. All travelers to Australia, regardless of age, require an ETA. If the children have their own passport, you should apply for a separate ETA for the child, entering all the details from your child's passport.
What is an electronic travel authority?
An ETA allows the holder to travel to Australia as many times as required within the validity period which is 12 months from the date of issue. The maximum length of each visit is three months. An ETA is an electronically stored authority equivalent to a visa. There is no stamp or label placed in your passport.
How do I get an ETA visa for Australia?
Your ETA is valid for 12 months. You can enter and stay in Australia for up to three months at a time. If you want to stay in Australia for longer periods, you can apply for another visa, such as a Visitor visa (subclass 600). If your passport expires before your ETA, you will need to reapply.
Can I get a 6 month visa for Australia?
Your six-month tourist visa is valid for 12 months from the issue date. You will be permitted to leave and re-enter Australia as frequently as you like during this time; although you may only stay for up to six months for each visit.
Can I work on a visitor's visa in Australia?
if you have a tourist visa, you cannot work at all; if you have a student visa and a work permit, you can only work up to 20 hours per week while you are studying; if you have a working holiday visa, you are not allowed to work for any one employer for more than 3 months.
Can I leave and return to Australia on a tourist visa?
Many Australia travel visas allow you multiple entries. This means you can leave Australia and re-enter within a period of 12 months from the date it was granted. When you re-enter you are again allowed to stay as long as your Australia visitor visa specifies. So, say you have the usual three months ETA.
How do I apply for an ETA for Australia?
To apply for an ETA (Visitor), you must be outside Australia and hold a passport issued by an ETA-eligible country or region (see below for the full list). You must apply for your ETA with the passport and passport number you will be traveling to Australia with; the visa is linked to this number.
How long is the ETA valid for?
In most cases, the ETA will be granted within minutes of applying. Once approved, your ETA is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. This means you can fly to Canada without reapplying so long as your ETA and passport remain valid.
Is a visa required to visit Australia?
Most U.S. passport holders traveling to Australia for tourism or business purposes for less than 90 days can obtain an Electronic Travel Authority (ETA). The ETA is an electronic label-free visa and can be obtained at the ETA website for a small service fee.
Can you extend a tourist visa in Australia?
