Increased investment by Government to boost immigration

The federal government of Canada recently announced that it plans to increase immigration, with targets of 340,000 by 2020 on a yearly basis. It has released a detailed plan to show how the expected expenditure of $ 440 Million is going to be allocated for this. All this is to be done to boost economic growth.

In its latest presentation during budget talks in Parliament, the detailed breakdown of expenses and their allocation has been laid out. This also includes information on how these plans will be implemented at the earliest. This plan has been brought into action, after the declaration of the plan of the three year immigration which came in November, which is a departure from the year to year planning period that was the usual norm.

The people who shall really benefit from this are the economic immigrants, focusing on those who qualify for the Federal High Skilled Immigrants list. There is expected to be an limit of about 188,500 in 2018, and up to 201,000 in 2019. The focus shall be on ensuring that families can be reunited and there shall be almost 100,000 people being spouses, and blood relatives up to grandparents being given immigration permits.

The government is also seeking to help out those who need the refugee status, as it demonstrated recently with helping out Syrians who needed refuge after displacement due to the Russian War. It shall also allow for privately financed refugees.

There is a need to ensure that these changes shall be made in a manageable way and to ensure that integration was made in a manner that benefited all sections of society. That is why the government is introducing a structured tiered program so as to maintain order. This is a landmark of sorts as by 2020 the number of people with immigration permits shall constitute 1% of entire population on a yearly basis.
